Research Summaries
Bites
Research Bites are 90-second presentations (PowerPoint) with summaries of key research for practitioners to share among colleagues and at staff meetings. They focus on practical classroom issues. You can access the bank of research bites here: http://www.education.gov.uk/b0058454/schools-research-news
Research for Teachers (RfT for GTC)
CUREE has appraised, selected and summarised one or more published research studies and presented teacher case studies to illustrate the findings.
We are selecting research that, in our view:
- illuminates the complex tasks involved in teaching
- enables teachers to see clearly whether there are links with their own pupils and practice, and what these are
- provides detailed information about the particular teaching and learning processes in classrooms with which teachers can identify
- is written and presented as accessibly as possible, in case teachers want to obtain and read the original text.

RfT Anthologies
Behaviour for learning: Engaging with research: An anthology of research based on the GTC's Research for Teachers (formerly Research of the Month), downloadable as a PDF here: http://www.gtce.org.uk/networks/bfl/
Case studies: Examples of how teachers have used the Behavior for learning resource

The Research Informed Practice Site (TRIPS)
This site offers easy access to essential research findings for teachers, governors, parents and all those who support them in the education of school age students.
Our aim is to help you make sure that practice and policy in schools, and at a regional and national level, are informed by good and up-to-date evidence. Visit http://www.education.gov.uk/schools/toolsandinitiatives/tripsresearchdigests for more information.
National Teacher Research Panel (NTRP)
The Panel has produced a number of publications on research informed practice. Many of these have been produced to accompany inputs at the British Educational Research Association conference. For more information, visit: http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/ntrp/publications/
You will find above a host of resources which you can use for personal development or to support the development of the whole school.
CUREE offers two complimentary services to help you to find the most suitable resources and to tailor them to your specific needs.
School Development Plan – Support Service When you are planning your school budget or development Plan it is more important than ever to ensure that you target funds so as to maximise their impact on pupil outcomes. CUREE are able to use our in-house expertise and extensive evidence database to help you identify approaches that are likely to be effective for pupils at scale and/ or weigh up the probable cost effectiveness of different options you are already considering. During this service you will work with one of our experienced researchers to explore your options for the SDP and we can highlight where there is a mature evidence base for the impact of particular teaching strategies on enhancing pupil outcomes. This will help you direct school resources towards priorities and strategies that will have the greatest impact on the pupils. Please contact rebecca.raybould@curee.co.uk for details of this service.
Customised Route Map
The route map is an interactive resource for locating research resources where practitioners can be assured that the materials are based on sound evidence. These web-based resources and tools are often free from a variety of organisations that support teachers, school leaders and other practitioners in addressing the following questions:
· Where can I find tools and activities to involve or support my colleagues in using research and evidence?
· Where can I explore why things do and don’t work and what is the underpinning rationale and theory?
· Where can I find practitioner friendly research summaries?
The high-level route map can be found here. We also customise the route map to give it a particular focus to meet the needs of individual organisations, groups or schools. We work with you to identify your needs for research, perhaps identifying the evidence that might underpin your school development plan, or resources relating to a specific area of teaching/learning and professional development. We can then create a bespoke route map for your use. Attached is a recent example for a primary school although the links on this example are not live.
