Philippa Cordingley is the founder and Chief Executive of CUREE. As adviser to the Department for Education, the General Teaching Council, the National College (formerly the NCSL), and the QCDA she has instigated, designed and developed a range of strategies, policy and support programmes to promote research and evidence-informed practice. Philippa has led the CUREE teams in a range of projects including the development of an evidence based National Framework for Mentoring and Coaching. Other leading edge projects designed and developed by Philippa and her team include developing innovative practical resources to engage practitioners with research. Such projects include the GTC Research of the Month web site and linked CPD resources, developing the DfES Research Informed Practice web site and creating a resource bank of coaching and micro enquiry tools. She is the founder and professional adviser to the National Teacher Research Panel and chair of the EPPI Centre Impact of CPD Review Group. She has also led direct research and evaluation programmes including recent projects on transferring learning between environments and taking it to scale, and the three year project to build the evidence base for a curriculum for the 21st century. CUREE also co-ordinated a number of small and large scale evaluation projects designed expressly to make the process useful to stakeholders. This includes the programme wide evaluation of Sing Up for the Sage Gateshead. She is a member of several National Steering Groups for Research projects including Sheffield University’s Research Advisory Group and the Sage Gateshead and NESTA Music and STEM teaching research project board and Vice Chair of a school governing body.
